Career Guidance To Classes 11, 12 Students Crucial, Counselling Essential: Delhi High Court
Stressing upon the importance of career guidance to students of classes 11 and 12, the Delhi High Court has said the authorities must ensure there is an appropriate system of counselling in place in schools. Justice Sanjeev Narula said it is essential that students are counselled about decision making processes and directed the Delhi government to examine the issue of providing career guidance to school students in consultation with experts. The court passed the order on a petition by an “exemplary student” who failed to secure admission in Delhi University, allegedly on account of his school not cautioning him that two of the subjects opted by him in class 12 were not considered as “main” subjects by the varsity, which attracted a penalty of 2.5% deduction of marks at the time of admission.

Vlog to educate people on ‘gau sanskriti’ in UP
To educate people on ‘gau sanskriti’ (cow culture), Kanha Upvan — Uttar Pradesh’s biggest gaushala run by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation — will soon launch a vlog. The vlog will tell people on why cows are being deserted by their owners and what risks these strays pose once they are abandoned.

Kanha Upvan manager Yatendra Trivedi said, “We have shot a few videos showing how we take care of the cows in the biggest gaushala of the state. Once successful, the initiatives will be replicated across the state.”Meanwhile, the state urban development department has also started the work on setting up a cow safari here. “A team of LMC officials have already visited Keshav Srishti gaushala in Mumbai to gather inputs. They also plan to visit Hingonia gaushala in Jaipur,” said chief veterinary officer, Lucknow, Dr Abhinav Verma.
“In Mumbai, we saw school children visiting get more info gaushalas. They also charge around Rs 375 per person for a visit,” said Dr Verma.

Himachal Pradesh: Government teachers giving private tuitions to face action
To earn extra bucks, many government teachers in Himachal Pradesh provide private tuitions to students at their homes and after coming to know about this finally the education department has decided to act tough against such teachers. In a circular issued the Director High Education said that taking private tuitions is violation of rule 2.7 of the HP Education Code, 2012.
But even after a decade of framing the HP Education Code, 2012, many teachers are continuing with the practice of providing private tuitions and this becomes evident from the letter of Director (Higher Education) Amarjeet Sharma sent to all the deputy directors on the issue of involvement of teachers in private tuitions. It will not be easy for the teachers posted in government schools and are providing private tuitions to throw dust in the eyes of the government as the Directorate of Higher Education has entrusted the responsibility of monitoring the teachers providing tuition to the heads of their institutions.

Gujarat: Admissions in paramedical courses to be delayed further
Students wanting to get admission in the undergraduate paramedical courses including nursing, physiotherapy, bachelor of optometry, naturopathy and audiology are in a state of confusion as the admission process has been delayed. Sources said that the admissions are likely to begin only after the state assembly polls are over. Sources said that in October, the Admission Committee for Gujarat Professional Nursing and Allied Medical Educational Courses (GPNAMEC) had announced the provisional merit list of candidates for admissions and had said that the selected students will have to complete their choice fillings during October 18-26 and the committee will conduct the results of the mock round on October 28. However, the committee did not announce the results and the process has not progressed since then.
